“The blizzard of the world has crossed the threshold, and has overturned the order of the soul.” - Leonard Cohen, The Future.
Inspired by T.S. Eliot’s, Ash Wednesday, this is my ongoing work to sit still among the rocks.
Here you’ll find inter-weavings of places I find the goodness & grace of God, or lack thereof, with my own life. Spiritual formation and learning to walk a quiet & content life with Jesus. Music, literature, cinema, and themes of grace from the stories of the world.
I’m glad you’re here.
What you can expect:
A monthly digest called Apertures, where I collect themes of grace from short essays, poetry, music, film, the news, and photographs. All pictures taken by me unless otherwise noted.
A monthly essay about matters of my own soul and how they relate to the world around me.
Living in Portland, OR since 2003, I enjoy living a life of hospitality. My husband and I love to provide space for weary travelers of the faith. I have two boys, which means I have the fullness of joy & pain always before me. I used to enjoy running marathons and triathlons but alas, childbearing and rounding the corner into my 4th decade of life permit me to find other ways to come alive, like boxing, yoga, swimming and hiking.
God comes alive to me in music, fiction, movies, and the wild.
We enjoy being a part of a small community of Christians in inner NE Portland. Practicing the spiritual discipline of loyalty to the Beloved Community always. I hold a BS in Theology & Music from Multnomah University, and I am a Spiritual Director - a friend of the soul.
You can find my personal spiritual direction info here.
I enjoy writing for Mockingbird and Faith + Lead.
